As If We Didn't Already Know…

You’d have to be a  political hack of extraordinary dimness to not already know that the Right has turned full bore to fear mongering.  After all, what’s her name, you know, that woman who deserted her governorship in Alaska and dismissed her duty in order to make money– Tina Fey?– no… well, whatever her name is, she used fear mongering like crazy when she made up “Death Panels.”  Now, though, the fear mongering tactics are not even plausibly deniable, because the Radicalized Right’s own propaganda machine is reporting on the tactic, which is now an explicit policy of the GOP:

The caricatures were tucked into a 72-page Power Point presentation to GOP fundraisers in Boca Raton, Fla., last month in what was a direct call to use fear and reactionary sentiments toward Democrats as a fundraising strategy.

“What can you sell when you do not have the White House, the House or the Senate…?” one slide asks.

“Save the country from tending toward Socialism!” it replies.

The presentation encourages fundraisers to use a direct marketing pitch that exploits “extreme negative feelings toward existing administration.” It also describes ways to appeal to major donors, including “peer to peer pressure,” “access” and ‘”ego driven.”

The only surprise in all of this is that Fox News actually reported it.

But most on the Right don’t seem to care in the slightest that the GOP has no platform and that their agenda is set as opposition.  The GOP is a weak party.  Their values are weak.  Their tactics are dirty and weak.  Their followers are weak minded and unresearched.  And on top of it, the Right is more radical now than ever before.  How will it next reveal its ugly head?  Will it be by a modern day Tim McVeigh murdering children in the name of the Right or will it be an abortion doctor shot in Church, again, by a “Pro Life” radical?  The more radical the Right becomes, the less grounded they are in reality, the less nuance they find in the world, the more black and white things become, and the more dangerous their politics become.  But even if they do kill other people, they’ll find a way to blame Obama.

Weak hypocrites.  Dull, dim, herd.  Uneducated, ignorant.  All these words have become synonymous with 21st Century Conservativism.  Copy and paste Conservatism.  No need to do your own research when you can just find the opinions that best fit your political Faith and copy and paste the lies and spin they feed you.  Why think?  That’s too much trouble.  Better to save that brain power for watching American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, football, Fox News, and all the other mindless crap we’re bombarded with.  Nietzsche was right!  Most people are simply lazy.  This is exemplified by the Conservatives intellectual laziness.  We need more David Patreauses, not more Glann Becks and whats-her-names (you know, that rhetorician from Alaska), but you’d have to put down the TV remote and actually pick up a book that involves intellectual engagement to breed a new leader among the Conservatives of today.  That’s about as likely as a Conservative blogger independently researching before pasting the nonsense spewed out by the Right Wing machine.  Not likely.

Talk to a fresh can of soda and you’ll find that there is more thought, authenticity, and self-awareness in the bubbles as they burst than in 99% of the crap the Right says these days.
